Vadakkencheri Veeraraghava Subrahmanyam is one of the foremost violinists of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, known for his lyrical tone, scholarly approach to melody, and international performances. Born in Ernakulam, Kerala, he trained under multiple masters and became respected for his deep exploration of Carnatic raga grammar and expressive bowing. V. V. Subrahmanyam has played with leading musicians worldwide, including renowned yesteryear musicians such as Bharat Ratna Vidushi Smt M.S. Subbulakshmi. He has taught at music institutions, and helped nurture a generation of violin students across continents, embodying a dynamic synthesis of traditional Carnatic lineage and global artistry. He is the violin Guru of Sri R.K. Shriramkumar.
